Litton named 36th president of Kudos College

On May 6, the prestigious Kudos College is having its 36th convocation to install Dallas Symphony Orchestra Music Director Andrew Litton as its new president.

Kudos is probably the most distinguished nonexistent college in America. The source of its distinction is the honor roll of people who have agreed to handle the admittedly limited duties that come with being president of a mythical institution.

Kudos College was invented by the Dallas Advertising League in 1949 to honor people who have brought favorable attention to Dallas. In return, the league appoints them president of Kudos. Past presidents include Bob Hope, Lamar Hunt, Clint Murchison Jr., Mary Kay Ash, former Texas Governor John Connally, Byron Nelson and Ross Perot.

The connection with past presidents Morton Meyerson and I. M. Pei, architect of the Meyerson Symphony Center, makes me feel right at home, says Maestro Litton.
