Andrew Litton, who it turns out, is a quite adroit pianist, has got the touch when it comes to this special breed of high-classAmerican jazz (Gershwin). After the intermission, Litton returned for a sizzling account of the great F Minor Piano Quintet of Brahms, with [Nadja] Salerno-Sonnenberg in the first chair and [David] Kim playing second fiddle. Conductors, of course, are used to calling the shots, but Litton proved a true team player, turning up the heat only when required.
